Bogle invented the index fund. Then he started a company that gave it away at cost. Then he wrote this book to explain why every other approach is, statistically, a worse deal. Jim respects the move. The math here is unsparing: fees compound just like returns, but in the wrong direction. A 2% expense ratio over 40 years eats half your final balance.
