Best Reading Order

Publication order (Shadow and Bone first) gives the full picture: Six of Crows references events from the trilogy, and King of Scars follows characters from both earlier series.

Many readers start with Six of Crows instead, and it works on its own: the duology is self-contained apart from a few cameos and background details. If you start there and want more, read the Shadow and Bone trilogy before King of Scars.
