Jim first read this as a teenage larva and thought Holden was a genius. Re-reading it as a fully grown bookworm, Jim realizes Holden is kind of insufferable — but that's exactly the point. Salinger nailed the voice of a confused kid so perfectly it still resonates. Whether you love Holden or want to worm-slap him, this book will make you feel something. Probably both things simultaneously.
