Catch-22
by Joseph Heller
4/5
Simon & Schuster 453 pages November 10, 1961
Set on a small Mediterranean island during World War II, bombardier Yossarian is desperate to survive the insanity of war. The infamous Catch-22 dictates that concern for one's own safety in the face of danger is the process of a rational mind — but anyone rational would fly combat missions, making them insane.

Jim's Review
🐛
This book broke Jim's brain in the best way possible. Heller writes in circles that somehow move forward, like a worm doing donuts in really good soil. The humor is dark enough to read by, and the anti-war message hits harder with every loop of absurdist logic. Fair warning: you'll start seeing catch-22s everywhere in your own life. That's not a bug, it's a feature.
