A Man Called Ove
by Fredrik Backman
4/5
Atria Books 337 pages July 15, 2014
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon — the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. When a boisterous young family moves in next door, Ove's well-ordered solitary world turns upside down.

Jim's Review
🐛
Ove is the grumpiest fictional character Jim has ever loved, and Jim has loved a LOT of fictional characters. Backman slowly peels back the layers of this cantankerous old man until Jim was openly weeping into his worm hole. It's funny, it's heartbreaking, and it proves that even the prickliest people deserve kindness. Jim wanted to crawl right into this book and give Ove a hug — whether he wanted one or not.
